Rachel Zegler, star of the upcoming live-action remake of Snow White, recently addressed the criticism regarding the film and her performance. After being at the center of a controversy for some of her statements about the original story (which she had called "dated" and "weird"), the actress has chosen to interpret the public's reactions as a sign of the passion that fans have for the Disney classic.

"I choose to interpret people's feelings about this film as a symptom of the passion for this story that they love so much," Zegler said in an interview with Vogue Mexico (per THR ). "And I think that's wonderful. It's an honor to be part of a film that evokes so many emotions in the audience."

The live-action Snow White, directed by Marc Webb (The Amazing Spider-Man), will also star Gal Gadot as the Evil Queen. The film aims to revisit some aspects of the classic fairy tale, while maintaining its original spirit.

Snow White: a remake between tradition and innovation

The criticisms towards the project have focused mainly on the changes made to the story and the casting. Rachel Zegler, however, stressed the importance of adapting the stories for today's audiences, without betraying the soul of the Disney classic. According to what was revealed by Disney, the film will in fact maintain the magical atmosphere and positive messages of the 1937 animated version, but with some innovations that reflect modern times.

"Her superpower is her heart," Zegler emphasized. "There is no supernatural power that Snow White possesses other than her love for humanity, for all living creatures and her fundamental belief that there is good in everything. It’s something that I really think the world could benefit from more.”

The live-action Snow White is scheduled for release on March 20, 2025. In the meantime, the debate among fans continues, demonstrating how much this Disney classic is still a point of reference for audiences of all ages.
