The film has officially wrapped filming, but Steven Knight has no intention of ending the Peaky Blinders saga. As the Netflix feature enters post-production, the writer and director confirm that his exploration of the world of the famous British gang is far from over.

Peaky Blinders, the immortal saga

In a recent interview with BBC Breakfast, Knight said that the film will be “a very fitting way to conclude this part of the Peaky Blinders story”. However, the way he expressed himself inevitably led to the next question: will there be a sequel? The answer is yes, although for now the details remain shrouded in mystery. “It’s not over, let’s put it that way,” Knight said. “I can’t officially announce it yet, but I can say that the world of Peaky will continue.” In what form—another film? A new series?—and on which platform (BBC for the original series or Netflix for the film?) remains to be seen.

The film, titled The Immortal Man, does not yet have a release date. The cast includes Cillian Murphy, Barry Keoghan, Rebecca Ferguson, Tim Roth, Stephen Graham, Sophie Rundle, Ned Dennehy and Packy Lee. Filming is set to take place in autumn 2024. In the meantime, Knight continues to prove himself as a prolific and versatile screenwriter. The second season of his war drama The Men of the SAS recently premiered on Max, and today sees the debut of A Thousand Blows, a new period drama also starring Stephen Graham, on Disney+.
