After showing 20 minutes at the Annecy Festival, where it was enthusiastically applauded, the animated film The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim received its first images through Entertainment Weekly. The images feature Princess Hera, the protagonist of the story and daughter of Helm (first image below). The King of Rohan is also highlighted on the throne (above), as is the villain Wulf (second image below). See the images. The story of War of the Rohirrim - the name given to the knights of the kingdom of Rohan - takes place more than a century before the events of the original trilogy and will follow the life of Helm Hammerhead, King of Rohan, and his daughter, Princess Hera. He was mentioned by J.R.R. Tolkien in the book's appendices, but his story was never detailed.

In the film, we will see Helm, Hera, and their people setting up a last line of defense in the fortress of Hornburg amid attacks from Wulf, a Dunlending lord. Brian Cox (Succession) will play Helm, the King of Rohan; This is the man whose name was given to Helm's Deep. Gaia Wise will play her daughter, Hera, who is the protagonist of the film. Luke Pasqualino will play Wulf, Helm, and Hera's adversary. Miranda Otto will reprise her role as Éowyn, from the Lord of the Rings films, and will be the narrator.

Lorraine Ashbourne (Bridgerton), Yazdan Qafouri (I Came By), Benjamin Wainwright (World on Fire), Laurence Ubong Williams (Gateway), Shaun Dooley (The Witcher), Michael Wildman (The Fast and the Furious: Hobbs and Shaw), Jude Akuwudike (Beasts of No Nation), Bilal Hasna (Sparks) and Janine Duvitski (Benidorm) complete the cast. Philippa Boyens, part of the original trilogy's writing team, will serve as a consultant on the film, directed by Kenji Kamiyama (Blade Runner: Black Lotus) and written by Jeffrey Addiss and Will Matthews (The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance). Joseph Chou will produce. The animation is by Sola Entertainment. Peter Jackson is the executive producer.
