Old Boston friends Matt Damon and Casey Affleck are reuniting to star in a movie again. Produced by Apple and Ben Affleck (couldn't miss it) and with Doug Liman, from The Bourne Identity, directing, the two will star in The Provocators, which received its first trailer this Thursday (13). Read the film's synopsis: "Rory (Matt Damon) and Cobby (Casey Affleck) are reluctant partners: a desperate father and an ex-con who are thrown together to steal a corrupt politician's ill-gotten gains.

But when the heist goes wrong, the two find themselves caught up in a chaotic maelstrom, pursued not only by the police but also by ignorant bureaucrats and vengeful crime bosses. Completely lost, they convince Rory's therapist (Hong Chau, Oscar-nominated for The Whale, The Menu). ) to join the rush through the city, when they must put their differences aside and work together to escape." Completing the cast of The Instigators we have Michael Stuhlbarg (Steve Jobs), Paul Walter Hauser (Black Bird), Ving Rhames (Mission: Impossible franchise), Alfred Molina (Spider-Man 2), Toby Jones (Captain America: The First Avenger), Ron Perlman (Hellboy) and rapper Jack Harlow. Doug Liman is the director.

This is, interestingly, Liman's second film in the year 2024. He also directed the remake of Hitman starring Jake Gyllenhaal which was released directly on Prime Video. The Instigators will also be released directly in streaming, on Apple TV+. In other words, The Instigators has a different strategy than recent Apple releases, such as Argylle - The Superspy and Assassins of the Flower Moon. These were distributed in cinemas first, by studios that compared release rights, and only then went to the streaming service. The Instigators, however, premieres directly on Apple TV+ on August 9th of this year.
