It has been revealed that director Greg Mottola, known for "Superbad" (2007) and other films, will be joining season 2 of the DC Comics-based drama "Peacemaker". This is a spin-off drama starring Peacemaker (John Cena), who appeared in "The Suicide Squad" (2021). In season 1, James Gunn wrote the scripts for all eight episodes and directed a total of five episodes. Gunn recently announced via Instagram that director Mottola will be joining season 2. He wrote the following:

"I've been a big fan of Greg Mottola ever since I saw Daytripper at the Film Forum in NYC in the '90s. When we needed a director for episodes 2 and 3 of The Peacemaker season 2, he was the first one I thought of. I can't wait for everyone to see what we're making!"

Director Mottola made his feature film directorial debut with Daytripper (1996), which he wrote himself. Since then, he has worked on numerous comedies, including Superbad, Adventureland (2009), Paul (2011), and Mr. & Mrs. Spy (2016). He'll surely show off his sense of humor in The Peacemaker season 2. The second season, currently in production, will see the return of John Cena as Peacemaker, Holland as Emilia Harcourt, Danielle Brooks as Leota Adebayo, and Steve Agee as John Economos. It has also been announced that Freddie Stroma will be reprising his role as Vigilante/Adrian Chase.

As a new cast member, Frank Grillo, who plays Rick Flag Sr. in the new DC Universe (DCU) animated film "Creature Commando," has been confirmed to appear. The character is the father of the military officer Rick Flag, played by Joel Kinnaman in the two "Suicide Squad" films. In addition, "NCIS" Sol Rodriguez will play Sasha Bordeaux, "In Mean Girls" (2005) Tim Meadows will play Langston Fleury, and "In The Equalizer: The Final" (2023) David Denman will join in an unannounced role.
