A.J. Quinnell's "Man on Fire," which was also made into a movie in 2004 as "Man on Fire" starring Denzel Washington and Dakota Fanning, has been turned into a drama on Netflix. The main character John W. Creasy, played by Washington in the movie, will be taken over by Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, who has appeared in the "Aquaman" series. Variety reported. "Man on Fire" is a masterpiece that depicts how an alcoholic former CIA operative gradually connects with Lupita, a girl who reluctantly becomes his bodyguard. When Lupita is kidnapped, the protagonist Creasy's flames of revenge are kindled and he revives his former fighting skills.

The film is directed by Tony Scott, who also directed "Top Gun" (1986). Many fans still rewatch this work, especially in conjunction with "The Equalizer" (2023), in which Washington and Fanning co-star again. This drama remake project will use the original titles of the original novels "The Man on Fire" (1980) and "The Perfect Kill" (1992). Steven Caple Jr., who directed the hits "Creed II" (2018) and "Transformers: The Beast Awakens" (2023), will direct the first and second episodes. The showrunner will be Kyle Killen of "HALO" (2022). Abdul-Mateen II will star in the series and also produce it.

The synopsis has been reported through US media.

"Once a highly skilled and seasoned special forces mercenary known for surviving harsh environments, Creasy now suffers from severe PTSD. Determined to overcome his demons, he begins his path to redemption. But before he can get used to his new life, he is back in the fight, more intense than ever before."

Abdul-Mateen II, who played the villain Black Manta in the "Aquaman" series, also takes over the role of Morpheus from Laurence Fishburne in "The Matrix Resurrection" (2021). He has been active in various works across genres, including "Us" (2019), "The Trial of the Chicago 7" (2020), "Candyman" (2021), and "Ambulance" (2022). As a drama work, he played the most important role in "Watchmen" (2019). It is also interesting to know whether Lupita Ramos, the girl played by Dakota Fanning in the movie version, will appear. We will have to wait for further information regarding the production schedule and other details.
