Sony Pictures has released the official trailer for Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire. The sequel to Ghostbusters: Legacy arrives at the cinema on April 11th and promises to finally take us back to New York, to the legendary firehouse that has hosted the headquarters of the Ghostbusters since the distant 1980s. Old and new Ghostbusters are thus reunited in the new film directed by Gil Kenan.

Here's what we know about the synopsis:

In Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire, the Spengler family returns to where it all began, the iconic New York firehouse, and joins the original Ghostbusters who have developed a top-secret research lab to take ghost-fighting to the next level. superior. When the discovery of an ancient artifact unleashes an evil force, the old and new Ghostbusters must join forces to protect their home and save the world from a second Ice Age.

Dan Aykroyd, Ernie Hudson, and Annie Potts thus return to the scene and join the protagonist Paul Rudd and the new recruits hired team, namely the star of Strangers Things Finn Wolfhard, flanked by Mckenna Grace, Kumail Nanjiani, Patton Oswalt, Celeste O'Connor, and Logan Kim. Past and present, nostalgia effect and new amazing special effects thus promise to convince even the most skeptical, but above all those who were disappointed by the first reboot written by Gil Kenan with Jason Reitman, son of Ivan Reitman, who in 1984 had started the saga with the first legendary cult movie.

Also apparently confirmed by the new images is the absence of Bill Murray, who after a very brief cameo in the first reboot does not seem interested in taking on the role (or rather the suit) of the Ghostbuster again. Will the threat of the global ice age and, above all, Paul Rudd's comic talent actually make us forget a protagonist of his caliber? To find out, we just have to wait for April 11th and the arrival in theaters of the new sequel.
