As reported by The Hollywood Reporter, Zaslav revealed when the series will debut during the studio's fourth-quarter earnings conference call. The CEO said the series is aiming to debut in 2026 and that he recently met with Harry Potter creator J.K. Rowling, in London to discuss the process of "reviving" the saga.

"We have always been vocal about our enthusiasm for Harry Potter... The final film was produced over a decade ago," remarked Zaslav. "I recently visited London with Casey Bloys and Channing Dungey, where we had the pleasure of meeting with J.K. Rowling and her team. Both sides are thrilled about bringing this saga back to life. Our discussions were incredibly positive, and we are eagerly looking forward to the future. We are thrilled to unveil a decade's worth of fresh narratives to global fans on Max."

What do we know about the series based on Harry Potter?

The series will last "ten years", adapting the seven novels written by J.K. Rowling, and will have a totally new cast. The project has been described as a "faithful adaptation of the beloved Harry Potter book series."

“J.K. Rowling expressed her enthusiasm for Max's dedication to maintaining the essence of her books, stating that it is of utmost importance to her. She eagerly anticipates being involved in this new adaptation, as she believes that a long-running television series will provide the opportunity for a level of intricacy and richness that is unique to that format, this new Max Original series will dive deep into each of the iconic books that fans have continued to enjoy all these years."

“Max's commitment to preserving the integrity of my books is paramount to me. I look forward to being a part of this new adaptation that will allow for a degree of depth and detail that only a long-running television series can offer,” said J.K. Rowling, who will be involved in the series as an executive producer. The seven books of the Harry Potter saga have been adapted to the big screen in eight films that have grossed over 7 billion dollars at the global box office. Warner Bros. still has the Fantastic Beasts prequel/spin-off series under its belt, the future of which – after three films – is shrouded in total mystery.
