Warner Bros will make more films from The Lord of the Rings

It was a bit inevitable, but not for that reason it ceases to be surprising. Warner Bros has announced their intention to make more films based on the world of The Lord of the Rings. The reason should not be looking for it very far. The really interesting thing is to know what they want to do specifically. The first film that New Line Cinema and Warner made about the Lord of the Rings (the Brotherhood of the Ring) already goes back to 2001. The last was the third part of the trilogy of El Hobbit (The Battle of the Five Armies) in 2014. They have spent almost ten years since then, and in Warner, it seems that they have been encouraged after seeing the success (not exempt from controversy among Tolkien fans) of the series The Power Rings produced by Amazon, which has already been confirmed until a third season.

The original trilogy is already made, and it has been ruled out that Warner will make a remake of this or the trilogy of El Hobbit “twenty years ago, New Line took an unprecedented faith jump to make the incredible stories come true, the characters And the world of the lord of the rings on the big screen, ”said the bosses of Warner Michael de Luca and Pamela Abdy in statements collected by The Hollywood Reporter. “The result was a historical series of films that have been welcomed by generations of fans. But despite all the scope and details lovingly collected in the two trilogies, the vast, complex, and dazzling universe dreamed of by J.R.R. Tolkien remains largely unexplored in the movie. The opportunity to invite fans to enter the cinematographic world of Middle-earth is an honor, and we are excited to partner with Middle-Arth Enterprises and embarrassed in this adventure. ”

"We understand how appreciated these works," added the Freemode CEO in barrack Discovery "Working with our partners in New Line Cinema and Warner Bros. Pictures, we plan to honor the past, look to the future, and adhere to the highest level of quality, and production values."

As for Silmarillion, it is assumed that part of that story (at least the one corresponding to the second age) is the one they tell in the new Amazon series, although we already know that the Bezos producer is inspired by the book in an entirely tangential. There is the circumstance that the rights to Tolikien's work are quite distributed. The dispute between Warner and The Tolkien State was closed with a collaboration agreement in 2017, but the rights to bring the work to television continue to belong to Amazon. In fact, it seems that there is enough disconnection between Warner's plans and those of the company of Bezos.

And Peter Jackson, what do you think of all this? Well, it seems that the director of the two trilogies was contacted by Amazon when the work on the power rings began, but Amazon did not call him again. At Amazon, they say they asked the director to send their idea of the script and he never did. Regarding these new films, Jackson and their partners Fran Walsh and Philippa Boyens have issued a statement in which they recognize that both Warner and Embarrass have made them aware of this new project, and apparently, they are willing to collaborate on it.

Many things in the air still. What is clear is that Warner seems willing to turn Tolkien's work into a film franchise just as he has done with the work of J. K. Rowling and the Harry Potter universe into a fantastic animal trilogy. A powerful gentleman is Don Money, who says. We will see where all this ends.
