After several postponements, Mickey 17 is back on the cinema calendar with a new release date! The feature film from Oscar-winning Parasite director Bong Joon-ho will be released on January 31, 2025, Warner Bros. announced. Last month, Warner removed it from the calendar (it was due for release in late March 2024) due to production delays caused by last year's Hollywood strikes. A not very surprising postponement, as no trailer for the film had yet been released (except for a small teaser) and its release date was getting closer and closer.

Robert Pattinson is the protagonist of this adaptation of the 2022 novel Mickey7, by author Edward Ashton. The protagonist is described as "a disposable employee", an "expendable" person, who is used for the colonization of a new planet and who, when he dies, is regenerated into a new body, while keeping all his memories intact. The story becomes increasingly thorny when a Mickey, thought to be lost and dead for some time, returns to base and discovers that he has been replaced by a new Mickey. Ashton released the follow-up, Antimatter Blues, last year. The film also stars Steven Yeun, Naomi Ackie, Toni Collette, and Mark Ruffalo. Mickey 17 is Robert Pattinson's first big role after Matt Reeves' The Batman (2022), the third for Warner Bros. in four years, after Christopher Nolan's Tenet (2020).

The film is produced by Plan B Entertainment, Dooho Choi of Kate Street Picture Company, and Bong Joon-ho's Offscreen, Inc.. The creative team behind the camera includes director of photography Darius Khondji (Okja), production designer Fiona Crombie (The Favourite, Cruella), editor Yang Jin-mo (Parasite), costume designer Catherine George (Okja, Snowpiercer) and visual effects supervisor Dan Glass (The Matrix). The music is by composer Jae-il Jung (Parasite, Squid Game).
